In 2010, Lotte purchased 84,400of land in 8-1 Songdo-dong from Songdo International Urban Development Limited (NSIC) and planned to build a complex shopping center. However, the construction of a complex shopping center has not been carried out, and property taxes have been imposed due to delays in construction.

Hwang Bum-seok, CEO of Lotte Department Store, said, "The project has been delayed slightly from the original plan due to changes in the internal and external environment, but we have adjusted the project plan to complete it in 2025. We tried to plan a new concept of resort-type shopping mall in the city."

According to the change plan, a resort-type shopping mall with a total floor area of 148,000consisting of separate buildings such as premium halls, street malls, and experiential wine stores, and a 21-story, 200-room resort with various types of pools and terraces will be created.

In addition, the central square will be decorated with a "flage" that combines beach concept squares and eco-friendly green spaces in the city, and differentiated exterior and landscape designs will be carried out through collaboration with famous overseas architects such as Richard Meyer and James Connor.

Meanwhile, the delay in the installation of the 5th entrance (in the direction of Lotte Mall Songdo) at Incheon National University Station on Incheon Line 1, which has been delayed along with the delay in the construction of Lotte Mall Songdo, has also been prepared.

On this day, a Lotte official explained, "Before the opening of Lotte Mall Songdo, we plan to install and open the ground entrance at Incheon National University Station No. 5 so that inconvenience to users and residents can be resolved."

In the future, Lotte plans to carry out additional civil engineering work following the change in the construction plan. It plans to go through administrative procedures such as landscape deliberation in the first half of next year when the results of the architectural design are released.

Incheon Mayor Park Nam-chun said, "With the establishment of Lotte Mall Songdo, we expect not only to create new jobs in Incheon but also contribute to local residents in the future," adding, "Please speed up the construction to contribute to revitalizing the local economy."
