The Incheon Metropolitan Government announced on the 19th that it will continue to push for a comprehensive development support project for the West Sea 5 provinces until 2025.
Last year, the government changed the "West Sea 5th Province Comprehensive Development Plan" to extend the project originally scheduled to be carried out until 2020 to 2025, and established various new business plans.
The comprehensive development plan for the West Sea 5 is a 10-year plan first prepared in 2011 in the wake of North Korea's bombing of Yeonpyeong Island in 2010, with the main purpose of relieving security anxiety and improving settlement conditions for residents of the West Sea 5.
The government and Incheon City will invest 288.3 billion won from this year to 2025 to build Baengnyeong Coastal Road, create Baengnyeong Yonggipo Port Sea Shelter, foster Baengnyeong Daecheong National Geopark Village, Yeonpyeong Sea Battle Peace Prayer, and 52 Yeonpyeong-myeon National Sports Center.
A city official said, "We will continue to promote projects that residents can feel and satisfy, such as improving settlement conditions and repairing evacuation facilities."
