The Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority announced on the 31st that it plans to apply for the re-designation of the free economic zone within the first half of the year for Mt. Eulwang (San 77-4 Eulwang-dong, Jung-gu). In order for SG Industrial Development Co., Ltd., a project implementer, to secure publicity in the project's implementation, the designation of free economic zones must be preceded.

In September 2019, the Incheon Economic Office applied to the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy for the re-designation of a free economic zone, but was eliminated from the candidate site in December of that year. The reasons for the elimination were ▶ Lack of expertise by project operators to carry out large-scale development projects ▶ Promotion of the video industry that did not fit the vision of free economic zones ▶ Lack of demand and location of Mt. Eulwang

Accordingly, the Incheon Economic Office went through preparation and supplementation to resolve the reason for the elimination last year, and it is believed that it is currently competitive. SBS A&T and STP Consortium, a private studio, have already confirmed their participation in the project, complementing the expertise of the operator. In addition, the Incheon Metropolitan Government will participate as a joint project implementer, securing the need for the project and the public.

In addition, the Incheon Economic Office will emphasize that the video industry is in line with the vision of free economic zones in the future.

Various video filming sites have potential as tourist attractions, including decorating them as hands-on spaces.

Above all, IFUS HILL is expected to be an axis of the "Incheon Airport Economic Zone" by linking future industries around Incheon International Airport.

According to the Incheon Economic Agency, an annual average of 10 million passengers from Incheon International Airport will travel to Seoul and Gyeonggi Province. It is expected that IFUS HILL will have a great synergy effect with the airport if it becomes a tourist experience cultural space, like Nonsan Sunshine Land.

"We have already implemented the project for three months since May last year, and the operation rate is more than 80 percent, with 30 video contents being produced during this period." said an official at the Incheon Economic Office.
