SG (SG) has pushed for mergers and acquisitions (M&A) to expand its Ascon business across the country.

In addition to Incheon and the metropolitan area, SG announced on the 24th that it has acquired Hwashin Ascon in order to expand its business area in major regions of the province. Hwashin Ascon was established in 1996 and has been operating its Ascon business in Asan, South Chungcheong Province for about 24 years.

It is known that the location of the plant is important because ascon has to be delivered to the road pavement construction site within 90 minutes while maintaining the high temperature after shipment of the product. Currently, large mid- to long-term development projects such as "Songsan Green City" and "Second Gyeongbu Expressway" (Seoul-Sejong) are underway in areas where Ascon can be supplied by Hwashin Ascon. In particular, Hwashin Ascon is in Asan, South Chungcheong Province, where supplies can be delivered to the entire section of the highway project from Seoul to Sejong, is expected to expand the scope of orders, including major development cities such as Hwaseong, Pyeongtaek and Osan in Gyeonggi Province, in addition to Sejong Special Self-Governing City, the administrative capital, and Cheongju, a transportation hub.

"With the acquisition of Hwashin Ascon, SG has prepared a bridgehead for expanding its Ascon business to the central region," an SG official said. "We will continue to acquire Ascon business at major local hubs and expand our Ascon business nationwide by 2021."

Meanwhile, SG is currently expanding its business area by developing Eco-friendly Road Pavement Project of Ecosteel Ascon and EGR+, an eco-friendly facility of Ascon Plant, for the first time in Korea.
